Crates! Privacy Policy
Introduction
Tandy Mellow Games ("we," "us," or "our") develops and publishes Crates!, available on Android and the web. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Crates!.
Crates! is a single-player arcade game designed for a broad audience. We are committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and applicable data protection laws. The Android app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements, subject to the consent and age-treatment settings described below.

- Local Scoreboard Name: If you achieve a high score, you may enter a display name of up to 7 alphanumeric characters for the local Top 10 scoreboard. This is a freely chosen alias and does not need to be your real name. We do not require or request your real name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
Information Generated Automatically
- Local Scoreboard Data: Crates! stores your local Top 10 scores on your device. Each entry contains the player-chosen display name, score, level reached, and date.
- Gameplay State: During gameplay, Crates! processes game actions, scores, levels, and physics state locally on your device to operate the game.
- Advertising Data: Google Mobile Ads may process device and advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, ad interactions, and diagnostic information to deliver, measure, prevent fraud in, and improve advertisements. The precise data used depends on your region, consent choice, device settings, and applicable age treatment.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be explicit about what we do not collect through Crates!:
- Real names, email addresses, or physical addresses
- Phone numbers
- Photographs or videos
- Precise location data
- Contacts or address book data
- Browsing history or search history
- Financial or payment information
- Health or biometric data
- Audio or voice recordings
- Files or documents from your device
- Identifiers or network information directly requested by Crates! outside the Google advertising services described above
How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above solely to:
- Operate the game - run gameplay, scoring, levels, and visual/audio feedback locally on your device.
- Display your local scoreboard - show Top 10 scores saved on your device.
- Provide haptic feedback - trigger vibration feedback for supported gameplay actions.
We also use limited advertising information to show and measure ads, prevent fraud, and comply with privacy choices and legal requirements. Personalized ads are requested only where permitted and supported by the user's consent and age treatment.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We Do Not Sell User Data
We do not sell user data. The Android app shares limited device, network, consent, and ad-interaction data with Google and participating ad technology providers as needed to provide and measure ads.

Crates! may use the following third-party service:

We do not integrate social-media, remote leaderboard, or standalone analytics SDKs in the current Crates! app.
Permissions
Crates! requests only one Android permission:
- INTERNET - Required for the web-based app shell and loading app resources such as fonts.
Crates! may also use your device's vibration motor for haptic feedback during gameplay. This does not require a runtime permission on Android and does not access sensitive data.
Crates! does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, storage, phone state, Bluetooth, or other sensitive permissions.
Data Storage and Security
- Local storage: Crates! stores local scoreboard entries on your device using standard app storage. You can clear this data by clearing the app's data in Android settings or uninstalling the app.
- Server-side: Crates! does not send local scoreboard entries to our server and does not maintain a remote leaderboard in the current app.
- Security: Because Crates! stores scoreboard data locally, access to that data is controlled by your device app storage settings.
Children's Privacy
Crates! is designed to be safe for users of all ages, including children under 13:
- We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Crates! does not require account creation, login, email, or personally identifiable information.
- Age-restricted ad treatment: When a user is identified as requiring child or age-restricted treatment, ad requests use the applicable restricted treatment and personalized ads are not served.
- We do not provide chat, messaging, or multiplayer communication in the current Crates! app.
- There are no in-app purchases in Crates!.

Pricing and In-App Purchases
Crates! is free to use. There are no subscription fees, in-app purchases, premium tiers, or hidden costs.
Data Retention
- Gameplay state: Used locally during active play and discarded when no longer needed by the game.
- Local scoreboard data: Retained on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. Because Crates! stores scoreboard data locally and does not maintain a remote user account or remote leaderboard, you can exercise these rights directly on your device.
- Local data: You can delete locally stored data by clearing the app's data in Android settings or uninstalling the app.
- Advertising choices: Where required, use the in-app Privacy Options control to review or change your consent choices.
- Remote data: Crates! does not maintain remote scoreboard entries or user accounts in the current app.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), local gameplay processing is based on legitimate interest in operating the game. Advertising storage, personalization, and related processing rely on consent where legally required; some limited processing may also be necessary for fraud prevention and legal compliance.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, notify users through Crates!. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
